I’ve been there! My biggest struggle was with nutrition & exercise. I went to both extremes. I went from being obsessed with being skinny to binge eating. I worked out 2 hrs. a day at the gym and barely ate anything (no fats, no carbs). When I introduced fats back into my diet I went the other extreme and began to binge eat. I would eat so much that I had to make myself throw up to feel better. I got burnt out from doing the same old at the gym and stopped working out. I went from a size 0 to a size 12! I tried everything all types of diets, supplements, saw nutritionists, you name it, I tried it! But nothing fit my lifestyle. I hated getting ready because I knew nothing fit, everything was tight because I refused to buy bigger clothes. I was always at war with food, myself and my husband.
The last straw was when my husband and I got into an argument and he said “Either you figure out what you need to be happy or I’m out” That was my wake-up call, I didn’t want to lose him, nor keep living this way. I started to invest in myself. I began with getting certified in Nutritional Studies through Dr. Joel Fuhrman, became a Certified Natural Trainer, Strong First kettlebell and bodyweight certified, Original Strength certified, NASM personal trainer and an Esthetician.
Through my journey I learned there is no cookie cutter, one size fits all program. Now that I have these systems in place, I love working out, and choose foods that are nutritious and clean which gives me the energy I need. Do I eat this way 100% of the time? No. My husband and I are foodies and love to try new places and food. I eat clean, nutritious foods the majority of the time, so if I have a not so clean meal on occasion I don’t let that ruin the rest of my day. Now I feel joy; I made peace food, myself, my husband and we have an amazing daughter.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign but during my last year I had room to take alternate classes, so I took nutrition and kinesiology courses and fell in love with the topics. I’m a “You never know where life will take you”, kind of girl, so I received Master’s in Educational Leadership just in case I ever wanted to pursue an administrator position.
I knew educating people and wellness was my true passion, therefore I became an Esthetician through Tricoci University. That wasn’t enough for me, I changed my lifestyle and wanted to help people change theirs, so I continued to pursue my passion and became Nutritarian Studies certified, a NASM Personal Trainer, Certified Natural Trainer, Strong First Kettlebell & Bodyweight certified along with Original Strength Certified. I worked in the Chicago Public School System for 13 years in a variety of capacities. Part time I was a personal trainer, esthetician and nutritional educator.
My husband and I were relocated to Atlanta, Georgia for his work so I decided to pursue my true passion in health and wellness. In Georgia, I worked for Provectus Health Strategies as a corporate wellness program health coach, was the head trainer at an Orangetheory Fitness, partnered up with Beautycounter as a consultant and started our family. We were in Georgia just shy of 2 years and were relocated again to Tennessee. Being a new mom and getting relocated has inspired me to dive deeper into my passion, make it virtual, and take my experience to the next level.
